VCDconverter is an easy to use, low cost software solution for bridging the gap from design to test. VCDconverter reads signals, timing and data from simulation test files, performs optional processing of this information and writes test program files accordingly. VCDconverter creates test program files in tester syntax with compatibility to target tester rules. And, specializes in converting two main functional test formats - VCD or EVCD.
The translating of different simulation formats into a test program, when performing production test, can be frustrating. The procedure can be difficult and there is no assurance that valuable data was not lost in the process. VCDconverter overcomes these challenges successfully. Files can be easily converted from functional simulation trace files into multiple target tester files, this is done using an informative and a simple set-up file, with comprehensive support for functional data.
VCDconverter creates both vector and timing files and prevents mismatches.
VCDconverter concept is for the tester files to be as coherent as possible with the simulation test files. VCDconverter keeps the link between these two sources by fetching the data from the original (E)VCD file for generation into the target tester format. This prevents errors in translation. There is however, enhanced option that performs an alternate 'sample point' for a signal, which is user-programmable.

- Converting information from simulation trace files into test program files with regard to tester rules. This includes signals, timing, vectors.
- Modifying simulation trace files in order to affect resulting test program files. Including signal set, signal order, signal group (bus), removing signals, and control signals.
- Importing signal set information (list, direction, control signals) directly from simulation test files or Excel work sheet.
- Work with Excel work sheet - for easy signal definitions when dealing with large simulation test files.
- Enable debug and use of Wave Wizard tool options.
- Operates in batch mode.
- Supporting operating systems: Unix-Linux, Sun-Solaris, MS-Windows.
- Tester independent, the same set-up file can be used to generate tester files targeting multiple ATE platforms.
